Welcome to LetsGoCanes.com​

For us Canes fans, hockey has always been more than a game, it's a community. LetsGoCanes.com has served as a gathering place for passionate fans to discuss games, celebrate victories, endure heartbreak, and share in the unique experience of being part of Caniac Nation.

This site exists because of the fans, and its history is intertwined with the history of Hurricanes hockey itself.

The Early Years​

LetsGoCanes.com was created in 2002 to provide Hurricanes fans with an independent online home dedicated exclusively to Canes hockey. At a time when social media did not yet dominate online discussion, fan forums were the heartbeat of sports communities.

The goal was simple:
  • Create a place where Canes fans could talk hockey 24 hours a day.
  • Build friendships from across North Carolina and beyond.
  • Foster thoughtful discussion, spirited debate, and a shared love of the game.
From game-day discussions and trade rumors to prospect analysis and road trip stories, LGC quickly became a daily destination for many fans.

The Stanley Cup Era​

The Hurricanes' historic run to the 2006 Stanley Cup Championship brought unprecedented excitement to the fanbase. Like many hockey communities, LGC experienced tremendous growth during this unforgettable period, with user registrations topping 20,000.

Members gathered to celebrate every milestone:
  • The 2002 run to the Stanley Cup Final.
  • The magical 2005-06 season culminating in winning the Cup.
  • Countless playoff appearances, rivalries, and unforgettable moments that followed.
For many members, some of their favorite memories of Hurricanes hockey were shared right here on these forums.

Gone, Not Forgotten, and the Return​

As message board activity slowed due to the rise of social media, LGC didn't escape the fate of many boards. In the mid 2010s the site was shut down. It was a dark time. On social media though, there were always references back to the glory days, and friends recalled meeting here, and all the good times that were shared here. The community was missed. As social media continued to monetize and use algorithms to turn into the monster it has become today, there has been a call for the return of the message boards of old. LetsGoCanes.com has returned to meet that need. No monetization, no algorithms, just fans making friends and creating that community once gain.

A Community Through Every Era​

Over the years, LetsGoCanes.com has been active through every chapter of Hurricanes history:
  • Championship highs.
  • Rebuilding seasons.
  • Coaching changes.
  • Draft days and blockbuster trades.
  • The rise of a new generation of Hurricanes stars.
  • The return of perennial playoff hockey in Raleigh.
